In conjunction with the official launch of our blog, we’re dressing up, getting down and getting literary while serving up homemade sandwiches to hungry party goers at the Desk Set’s annual winter Biblioball. The early winter fun will be held on Friday, December 11th at one of our favorite venues, the Bell House in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The Desk Set is a group of New York City area librarians, archivists, bibliophiles and other bookish types who meet informally to explore and enjoy literary resources, connect with like-minded folks, and raise money for institutions who promote literacy. The proceeds of this year’s Biblioball will be going to support Literacy for Incarcerated Teens. We’ll be donating a portion of our proceeds from the evening to the organization as well and we couldn’t be more excited to support them. Watch the video invitation and buy your tickets early!
In honor of the event, we present our special “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” winter sammich menu:
Pulled Pork with Spicy Sour Pomegranate Sauce
Steak Sammich with Magical Provolone Beschemel Cheese Sauce
Veggie Sammich of Fried Salted Tofu With Garlicky Red Pepper Spread
All sammiches will be on toasty buns, just like yours will be from dancing!
So come one, come all, for a fantastic evening of magical sammiches, serious dancing, and even more serious literary contemplation, and above and beyond all, hot, smart librarians. You know you want to.
Can I pre-order a veggie sandwich? I’ll be hiding behind the zine table most of the night.
You guys are way too cute! I really cannot wait for the Biblioball!!
Don’t worry, Jenna, there will be plenty (see all that tofu in the fridge!), but fear not, one will have your name on it! Can’t wait to see you there.
funny that sharif does pork so well, considering he can’t eat it (in good conscience–the alcohol thing, though, NO PROBLEM! 🙂 hehehe
Actually, that’s 19 pounds EACH of tofu, beef, and pork. So 57 lbs of protein total. In one apartment refridgerator. I think I might be a little nuts.
